On the photographs
Don't worry if your dish doesn't look quite like the picture — it will taste just as good. Photographs are styled to show serving and portioning ideas, and are not intended to be reproduced exactly.
On your child's doctor
This book shares family kitchen ideas, not medical or nutritional advice. Your paediatrician knows your child; we don't. Please take their guidance over anything written here, particularly if your child has a medical condition, a diagnosed allergy, feeding difficulties, or concerns about growth.
On allergies
We list the allergens we know of in each recipe, but ingredients and brands change without notice. Always read the label yourself, and introduce any new food one at a time so you can spot a reaction early.
On choking
Sizes and shapes in this book are chosen with small mouths in mind, but no food is choke-proof. Stay with your child while they eat, keep them seated, and cut things smaller if you're unsure. You know what's right for your child better than any book can.
On the nutrition figures
These are calculated estimates, not laboratory results. Real values shift with brands, portion sizes and how much actually gets eaten. Treat them as a rough guide.
On food safety
Storage times assume a cool kitchen and an insulated tiffin. Indian summers, long school days and warm bags all change the maths. When in doubt, pack something else.
On substitutions
Swap freely — that's the point. Every substitution changes taste, texture and nutrition a little, and how it turns out is in your hands.
